Best-Selling Author Reads for Hospice Care

August 26, 2008

NYT Best-Selling Author, KELLY CORRIGAN, Appearing in Bedford to Benefit Hospice Care’s Maggie Rose Perinatal Bereavement Program

Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam is proud to present a reading and book signing with New York Times bestselling author, Kelly Corrigan. Ms. Corrigan will appear at Historic Hall, on the Village Green in Bedford, on Wednesday, October 1st at 7:30PM. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet Corrigan and purchase an autographed copy of her memoir, The Middle Place. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the door or in advance by contacting Hospice Care at (914) 666-7616 ext 210 or online at www.vnahv.org. Seating will be limited. Proceeds will benefit Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam’s Maggie Rose Perinatal Bereavement Program. The Westchester Library System is a sponsor of the event.

Released in January 2008, The Middle Place tells of the unique time in life when one is both a parent and a child. Corrigan, a wife, mother of two, newspaper columnist and national magazine contributor was diagnosed with late stage cancer in 2004; the same year her devoted father was diagnosed with another late stage cancer. Lighthearted, yet poignant, this exceptional autobiography engages readers to look at themselves, past and present, while examining their families and how crisis and triumph can affect and re-shape the family unit.

A survivor, Corrigan launched CircusofCancer.org, a website that teaches family and friends of cancer patients how to love someone through treatment. Joining us from San Francisco, Kelly is donating her time, talent and travel for the benefit of the Maggie Rose Perinatal Bereavement Program.

The Maggie Rose Program assists families who have experienced, or will experience, the loss of a child during pregnancy, at birth or shortly after birth. It is one of Hospice Care’s many bereavement support services offered free of charge to any resident of Westchester & Putnam Counties. The Maggie Rose Program was started by the Rose Family of Bedford in honor of their daughter, Marguerite.

Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam, a member of the VNA of Hudson Valley family, is the largest provider of home care hospice services in Westchester County and the only provider in Putnam County.
