President Obama's Healthcare Briefing
Michele A. Quirolo, Westchester resident and President and CEO of the Visiting Nurse Association of Hudson Valley was one of the invited attendees at the President’s Healthcare Briefing held in the East Room at the White House on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. Quirolo, who serves as Chairperson of the National Association for Home Care and Hospice, has been working tirelessly with our Representatives and other healthcare organizations to educate and advise policy makers of the impact that healthcare reform will have on home care.
“Home care is a vital part of the healthcare system in this country,” Quirolo states. “As our population is living longer and the trend to move patients towards community based care increases, homecare will be called upon to play an even greater role in caring for our citizens. The home care industry has met the ever growing needs, but cannot continue to do so if drastic cuts are imposed. We support healthcare reform that recognizes the quality and cost savings that home care offers the healthcare system. Home care is a viable option and part of the solution to assist with managing chronic conditions which have proven to be a major drain on federal healthcare spending.”
The Visiting Nurse Association of Hudson Valley family of organizations has been serving the homecare needs of Westchester and Putnam counties for over 112 years. Through an interdisciplinary approach, patients receive coordinated care and have access to a continuum of services. The VNA organization is comprised of a certified home care agency, Visiting Nurse Association of Hudson Valley; hospice provider, Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam; and licensed agency VNA Home Health Services.
The organization is an affiliate member of the Pinnacle Healthcare System, accredited by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and has been continually named in the Home Care Elite being recognized as a member of the top 25% of the most successful Medicare certified homecare providers nationwide.
