Michele Quirolo Represents Home Care and Hospice Communities in the Capitol
Michele Quirolo, VNA of Hudson Valley President & CEO and Chairperson of the National Association for Home Care and Hospice, represented the home care and hospice community in the Capitol on June 22nd at a meeting led by Senator Debbie Stabenow from Michigan. She was joined by 20 other leaders of national disability and senior advocacy organizations to meet with the Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee to discuss issues related to implementation of the health care reform bill.
Quirolo highlighted the importance of federal matching funds for state Medicaid programs as well as the implementation of home health based chronic care projects. She also addressed the face to face visit requirements and the Class Act which were enacted as a part of health reform.
In attendance were Majority leader Harry Reid (NV), Sheldon Whitehouse (RI), John D. Rockefeller (WV), Jon Tester (MT), Daniel Akaka (HI), Amy Klobuchar (MN), Dick Durbin (IL), Tom Udall (NM), Roland Burris (IL), Jeanne Shaheen (NH), and Ben Cardin (MD).
