Adult Bereavement, home health care, Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam
To those who have lost a loved one, the experience of grief can be very stressful and challenging. It may have a profound impact on all aspects of life. Hospice Care offers support services free of charge to bereaved individuals, family members and friends living in Westchester and Putnam Counties.
Individual and Family Counseling: Grief counseling sets aside a time and place for individuals and families to talk about what they are experiencing in a non-judgmental and supportive atmosphere. Counseling provides a place to gain understanding and to learn ways to cope with loss. It is available in person or over the phone at no cost.
Support Groups: During bereavement, sometimes the best person to talk to is someone who has experienced a similar loss. Hospice Care hosts ongoing grief support groups that meet monthly, as well as short term specific support groups. There is also a telephone support network available.
Workshops: Hospice Care offers workshops on subjects that periodically arise during bereavement, providing information and strategies for coping. Topics can include:
Spiritual Issues
Financial/Legal Issues
Holidays
Family Dynamics
Cooking for One
Community Outreach: Understanding of transition and loss begins with education. Hospice Care offers special workshops for the community at large, to promote a more compassionate and sensitive approach to grief. Workshops can be held in our offices or in the community as needed.
Annual Memorial Services: Hospice Care holds interfaith memorial services once a year. These services give friends and families the opportunity to remember and honor loved ones.
